Marion T. Joyce of Medford died on Wednesday, March 27th following a battle with Parkinson's. She was 92.
Raised in Medford, Marion was the daughter of the late Mary and Thomas Hanlon. Loving wife of the late George Joyce and devoted mother of Marian Deyeso and her late husband John, Maureen Joyce, Patricia Gilmore, Barbara Barry, Dorothy Joyce and the late William Joyce. Loving grandmother and great-grandmother to Lisa Greeley, Christine Festa (Bill), Jennifer Gilmore, Steven Gilmore, John Deyeso (Briana) , Alex Deyeso, Derek Moffett, Natalie Moffett, Danielle Barry, Bridget Deyeso, Ryan Barry, Emily Festa, William Festa, Makayla Gilmore-Reid, Courtney Twist, Steven Gilmore, Conor Gilmore, Johnny Deyeso and Dominic Deyeso. Dear sister to David Hanlon (Eileen), Lawrence Hanlon and Hubert Hanlon (Alice). Predeceased by her siblings Thomas Hanlon, William Hanlon, Leo Hanlon, Rita Hanlon and Catherine Brophy (Frank). Survived by her sisters-in-law Gail, Denise, Catherine Hanlon and Lorraine McWilliams.
Marion worked as a secretary at Medford High School for close to 30 years. She was active in the St. Francis of Assisi Parish Mother's Club and was on the bowling team. Family was everything to her. She made yearly trips to Portugal Cove, Newfoundland to visit her siblings and vacationed in York Beach, Maine with her daughters. Her grandchildren/great-grandchildren brought much joy to her life. She loved her Irish music, roast beef dinners and playing cribbage and scrabble.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend visitation at the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden on Tuesday April 2nd from 8:30-9:30 AM followed by her Funeral Mass celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 441 Fellsway West, Medford at 10 AM. Services will conclude interment in Oak Grove Cemetery in Medford. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to your local hospice organization.
