Robert G. “Bob” Oliver of Winthrop passed away on March 26, 2024. He was 98 years old. Bob was the beloved husband of the late Margaret A. “Peggy” (MacDonald) Oliver. Born in Lawrence, MA, he was the cherished son of the late Mary (LaChance) and Joseph Oliver.
Bob was a World War II veteran, serving in the United States Navy from 1942-1946. Prior to his retirement, Bob was employed as a Police Officer for the Town of Winthrop for many years.
Bob was the devoted father of Kelly Flagg and her late husband Stephen of Bradford, Robert Oliver and his wife Lynn of Thornton, NH, John Oliver and his wife Debbie of Winthrop and Kim Oliver of Los Angeles, CA. He was the cherished grandfather of Danielle, Michelle, Ashley, Jaime, John, James and Robert and loving great-grandfather of Brayden, Aria, Camryn, Mason, Sadie, Max and Danny. Bob was predeceased by his six brothers and sisters. He was also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Bob’s funeral will be from the Maurice W. Kirby Funeral Home, 210 Winthrop St., Winthrop on Tuesday, April 2, at 9AM, followed by a funeral Mass in St. John the Evangelist Church (St. Michaels Parish) 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop, at 10AM. Relatives and friends are invited. Interment will be in Winthrop Cemetery (Belle Isle Section). Visiting hours will be held in the funeral home on Monday, April 1, from 4-8PM.
