Obituary

Rachel Loraine Ahn
March 25, 2004 – March 19, 2024

Our sweet girl, Rachel Ahn, of Wellesley, MA, died by suicide on March 19, 2024. She was six days shy of her twentieth birthday.

In her fierce battle with bipolar disorder and depression, Rachel never lost her sense of humor or her capacity for joy. A kind, creative, and thoughtful young woman, she delighted in making others happy with handcrafted presents, baked goods, and a rare gift for remembering and acknowledging what mattered most to the people in her life.

Rachel was an avid “Swiftie” (a.k.a. Taylor Swift fan), a self-proclaimed theater kid, a talented fashion designer, and a fearless advocate for the marginalized and disempowered. Her goal was to become an expressive arts therapist for children and teens with disabilities and mental health challenges. Rachel fought hard, loved deeply, and when she laughed, the whole world shimmered. She was a warrior to the end, and she will be profoundly, deeply missed by those who shone more brightly for her light.

Please join us in a celebration of Rachel’s life on April 13, 2024, at 2pm in the Bardwell Auditorium on the Dana Hall School Campus, 37 Cameron St., Wellesley MA 02482.

We invite you to dress as a “Swiftie” by wearing something you might choose for a Taylor Swift concert.

Memorial donations may be made to the Depression and Bipolar Support Alliance, https://www.dbsalliance.org/donate-to-dbsa/
