Obituary

M. A. Garrison, 83, of Lakeland, formerly of Tifton, passed away Wednesday, June 11, 2003, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 14, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Charles Tyson officiating. Mr. Garrison was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Kevin Garrison, Clint Jackson, Matt Jackson, Errol Jones, Ross Hopper and Arthur Lee Tyson served as pallbearers.

Born January 12, 1920, in Paulding County, Mr. Garrison was the son of the late William Newton Garrison and Janie Hale Garrison. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Audrey Horne Garrison; his second wife, Peggy Harnage Garrison; and three sisters. Before retiring, he was an engineer with the Georgia Department of Transportation; and he was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church. He was also a veteran of the United States Marine Corps and served during World War II.

Mr. Garrison is survived by one son, Mark Garrison of Tifton; three daughters, Teena G. Cooper of Tifton, Teresa Cooper of Savannah and Carol G. Jones of Colorado; one brother, Andrew J. Garrison of Tifton; and seven grandchildren.
