Obituary

Essie Magdalene Tucker Fletcher, 79, of Lenox passed away Sunday, July 13, 2003, at Berrien County Hospital in Nashville. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County with the Rev. Jim Williams officiating. Mrs. Fletcher was laid to rest at Salem Memorial Gardens in Tifton.

Ray Gray, Gerald Ethridge, Phillip Clarke, John Tucker, Joe Eubanks and Earl Mullis served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Eugene Williams, Okland Myers, Dalton Purvis, Buck Harnage, J. M. Lott, Roy Conger, Wayne Roberts, Ronnie Harnage, Leon White and Sonny Luke.

Born November 11, 1923, in Colquitt County, Mrs. Fletcher was the daughter of the late Ancel Clayton Tucker and Ella Suggs Tucker. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Joe Thomas Fletcher, Sr.; one daughter; one son; three sisters; six brothers; and one grandson. She was a homemaker and a retired flower nursery operator. She was a member of Ebenezer Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County; and she had lived in Berrien County most of her life.

Mrs. Fletcher is survived by one son, Tommy Fletcher of Lenox; four daughters, Betty Sutton, Sue Walker, LaVerne Bennett and Jennifer Harnage, all of Lenox; one brother, Buddy Tucker of Flemmington, Florida; sis sisters, Marie Ethridge of Ty Ty, Delores Shearl of Plant City, Florida, Betty Anne Troupe of Tifton, Zelma Taylor and Vera Mae Murphy, both of Ashburn and Carolyn Ray of Enigma; 27 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
