Pearlie Mae Sumner Fletcher, 94, of Chula passed away Thursday, May 1, 2002, at Tift Health Care. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Macedonia Baptist Church in Chula with the Rev. Randall Gay and the Rev. Jack Thompson officiating. Mrs. Fletcher was laid to rest at Eureka Baptist Church Cemetery in Irwinville (Irwin County).
Russell Hullett, Jimmy Thompson, Harrell Webster, Don Day, Ricky Fletcher and Wayne Ellis served as pallbearers.
Born June 7, 1908, in Ben Hill County, Mrs. Fletcher was the daughter of the late George Washington Sumner and Nettie Lou Sarah Sumler Sumner. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hughie D. Fletcher; and one son, Marion Lawrence Fletcher. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Macedonia Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Fletcher is survived by one sister, Louise Thompson of Darien; two grandchildren and their spouses, Larry and Gloria Fletcher of Chula and Linda Fletcher of Fitzgerald; four great-grandchildren, Joe Fletcher of Valdosta, Tamara Thompson of Fitzgerald and Hugh Fletcher and Tisha Hullet, both of Chula; and three great-great grandchildren, Hanna Fletcher and Hailey Fletcher, both of Rebecca and Hunter Hullett of Chula.
