Royston Prather Dodson, 79, of Tifton passed away Friday, February 28, 2003, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 2, 2003, at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty with the Rev. Danny Jones officiating. Mr. Dodson was laid to rest at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery.
Ralph Veazey, J. C. Howell, Gibbs Patrick Sr., Duane Dodson, Loren Dodson, Simmy McKeown, Pait Willis, Johnny Harrod and Mike Burkhalter served as pallbearers.
Born May 11, 1923, in Omega, Mr. Dodson was the son of the late Frederick Dodson and Mattie Pilkinton Dodson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Jacqueline Yvonne Tyson Dodson, who passed away March 25, 1990; one brother; and one sister. He was a retired farmer; and he was a member of Salem Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Navy and served in World War II; and he attended the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty.
Mr. Dodson is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Elizabeth Doson of Atlanta and Mike and Carol Dodson of Omega; and three grandchildren, Ezekiel Dodson, Megan Dodson and Ashley Dodson.
