William Earnest Dixon, 76, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, February 11, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 14, 2003, at New River Baptist Church in Tifton with the Rev. Larry Layfield officiating. Mr. Dixon was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The deacons of New River Baptist Church in Tifton served as pallbearers.
Born October 9, 1926, in Lagrange, Mr. Dixon was the son of the late Ernest Dixon and Pearl Morris Denham. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Cook Dixon, who passed away in 1997; three brothers; and two sisters. He retired from the United States Air Force; and also served in the United States Navy and the United States Army. He was a member of New River Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Dixon is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, David and Sheila Dixon of Tifton and Victor L. Dixon of Atlanta; two daughters, Marjorie L. Dixon of South Korea and Renee Clary of Merritt Island, Florida; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
