George Jack Conger, 96, of Tifton passed away Sunday, January 26, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 29, 2003, at Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church in Worth County with the Rev. Bill Barksdale officiating. Mr. Conger was laid to rest at the First Baptist Church of Ty Ty Cemetery.
Tommy conger, Wayman Conger, David Morris, Franklin Patterson, Brian Paulk and Martin Hurst served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were J. W. Hust, J. B. Paulk, John Evers, Joe Dorsey, Wade Hurst and Howard Gray.
Born July 18, 1906, in Worth County, Mr. Conger was the son of the late William Allen Conger and Fannie Kendall Conger. He was a retired farmer; and he was a member of Pine Level Freewill Baptist Church in Worth County. He had lived in Tift County most of his life.
Mr. Conger is survived by his wife of 61 years, Flora Perry Conger of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Perry and Dolores Conger of Tifton; two brothers, H. L. Conger of Worth County and L. E. Conger of Tifton' one sister, Erbie Conger Tucker of Worth County; and two grandchildren, Shane Conger and Auden Conger, both of Tifton.
