Obituary

THOMS, Amy M. (Van Dam) of Dedham, formerly of Brockton, March 21, 2024. Beloved wife of Jason Thoms of Dedham, formerly of Hyde Park. Devoted mother of Alyssa, Vanessa, Justin, and Sofia Thoms all of Dedham. Daughter of Frank Van Dam and Carol Van Dam (Pyer) of Brockton. Sister of Kelly Howe, Christine Van Dam (Procaccini), and James Van Dam. Daughter-in-law of Audrey Pugliesi (Thoms) of Dedham.

Amy was born and raised in Brockton Mass, where she attended high school at Brockton High class of 1996.

She met her husband Jay at 19 years old, and they started a family shortly there after. Jay and Amy were together coming up on 27 years.

She adored being a mother to her 4 beautiful children, she was at the majority of all sporting events, and all of her daughters multiple cheerleading events. She loved being a Cheer Mom.

She worked with children most of her adult life. She enjoyed a home daycare here in Dedham for a decade or so, then became a nanny to families that would grow to love her like their own.

Amy’s big heart, and easy going personality made her very easy to love by all. She also selflessly enjoyed preparing lunches for the homeless with her mother-in-law every Friday and she didn’t tell anyone. She kept it between her and God.

Amy will be missed for sure, and the void she will leave behind with her immediate family will be insurmountable.

Visiting hours will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Tuesday, March 26 from 4:00-8:00pm. A Funeral Mass will be held in St. Mary’s Church, 420 High St., Dedham on Wednesday, March 27 at 10:30am. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment in The Gardens Cemetery, West Roxbury.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Amy’s memory to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445.
