Obituary

Kathleen A. (Poremba) Sheerin
April 03, 1946 – March 22, 2024

With great sorrow, we announce the passing of our kind, caring, and unimaginably amazing mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, and friend. Kathleen was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the daughter of the late Joseph and Katherine Poremba. Kathleen attended St. Patrick’s School, graduating from Lawrence High School in 1964.

Kathleen met her first love, Lawrence Deschenes, early in life, sharing 21 years together and having four loving children, spending many years prioritizing their needs well above her own. In her early years, she was a hairdresser and a foster mother, lovingly fostering many children. She was like a second mother to her nephews Joe, and Jeff and her niece Kathi. Kathleen graduated from Northern Essex Community College in 1983, studying Practical Nursing. Kathleen had been employed as an LPN for over 20 years at Nevins Nursing Home.

Later in life, Kathleen met the love of her life, William Sheerin. Kathleen and William would go on to share 32 beautiful years, happily married. As empty nesters, they relocated to Laconia, which led to a love of the Lakes Region and the friends she found there. Kathleen worked for the Laconia Clinic, retiring from the Merrimack County Department of Corrections. She enjoyed her hobbies as a Notary and Justice of the Peace, marrying many couples over the years.

Kathleen loved spending time with her family. She loved her canine companions. She had many wonderful friends whom she loved dearly. Kathleen loved traveling with her husband. She cherished her time on Lake Winnisqaum and enjoyed Florida as a snowbird for many years.

Our beautiful, caring mother was so much to so many. We were lucky to be the ones to call her mom. She was a caregiver and nurturer her whole life. She was always the one someone would look up to, always there when you needed someone most, and loved with all her heart. In return, you could only love her the same way. She, indeed, was a beautiful soul. Kathleen reunites with her husband William, grandson Matthew, and special loved ones.

She leaves behind her beloved children, Michael Deschenes, Stephen Deschenes, Gregory and Tracy Deschenes, Kimberly, and Richard Lambert; Stepchildren Kathy and Bob Langlois, Karen and Dave Gaudet, Kim Gage, and Tim Sheerin; twelve Grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nephews, nieces along with their families, and many lifelong friends.

In lieu of flowers, those who wish to express sympathy, please consider donating to their favorite charity in Kathleen’s name.
Family Interment will be held Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 am in the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen, NH.
