John Bartford Cherry, 65, of Ty Ty passed away Saturday, June 7, 2003, at his brother's residence in Dublin. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2023, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. N. C. Spradley officiating. Mr. Cherry was laid to rest at Hickory Springs Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Tifton.
Daniel Youngblood, Danny Ray Cherry, Wayne Paramore, Kenneth Jones, Eddie Boyett and David Cherry served as pallbearers.
Born April 15, 1938, in Laurens County, Mr. Cherry was the son of William Clyde Cherry and Margaret Georgia Rix Cherry. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Nettie Allene Lewis Cherry, who passed way in 2001; and one son, William Dale Cherry. Before retiring, he was a farmer; and he worked in maintenance for the Georgia Department of Transportation. He was of the Church of God faith.
Mr. Cherry is survived by two daughters, Machelle Cherry and Angela R. Johnson, both of Albany; two brother, Talmadge Cherry of Leesburg and J. L. Cherry of Dublin; two sisters, Mary Flowers of Albany and Reba Crabb of Dublin; four grandchildren, Robert Jeffery, Leisa Mace, Stephanie Harbison and Reid Johnson; and two great-grandchildren, Johnathan Jeffery and Kaleb Mace.
