Coretta Towson Brewer, 92, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, April 17, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Gerald Purvis and the Rev. Curtis Mixon officiating. Mrs. Brewer was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Brewer's grandsons served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were the members of the Cleo McAllister Sunday School Class of Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton.
Born October 22, 1910, in Irwin County, Mrs. Brewer was the daughter of the late Geo Towson and Loretta Davis Towson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earl E. Brewer, who passed away in 1972; two daughters, Appiedine Moorman and Emma Jean Benson; and one son, T. J. Brewer. She was a homemaker and a loving mother; and she was a member of Liberty Baptist Church in Tifton. She had lived in Tift County for 60 years.
Mrs. Brewer is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, harry and Norma Brewer of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law Laverne and Perry Taylor of Brookfield; a daughter-in-law, Daphne Brewer of Tifton; one sister, Hazel Boytis of Eau Gallie, Florida; 16 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and several graet-great grandchildren.
