Calhoun "Cal" Austin Bowen, Jr. 60, of Tifton passed away Saturday, July 12, 2003, at his river home on Gun Lake Road. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Paul Thomas officiating. Mr. Bowen was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Born June 17, 1943, in Temple, Texas, Mr. Bowen was the son of the late Calhoun Austin Bowen, Sr. and Helen Bateman Bowen. He was a member of Tifton's First Baptist Church; and he had lived in Tifton most of his life. He had also served in the armed forces.
Mr. Bowen is survived by one son, J. Austin Bowen of Albany; one daughter, Cherie A. Finch of Temple; one sister and brother-in-law, Dana B. and James E. Wintermeyer of Richmond, Virginia; and one grandson, Matthew Christian.
