Florence Elizabeth Cook Bowen, 80, of Enigma passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2003, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 4, 2003, at Enigma United Methodist Church with the Rev. Walter Powell officiating. Ms. Bowen was laid to rest at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery in Effingham County.
John Bowen, Michael Bowen, Matt Cook, Casey Cook, Thomas O'Neal and Reece Hall served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Leroy Little, Maurice McMillan, Larry Railey, Larry Crumley, W. L. Kinchen, Jay York, Kevin Ray and Ken Baker.
Born September 25, 1922, in Effingham County, Ms. Bowen was the daughter of the late John B. Cook and Onie Belle Butler Cook. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Enigma United Methodist Church. She had lived in Enigma 17 years.
Ms. Bowen is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, William d. "Bill" and Sandy Bowen of Tifton; one sister, Claudie Coleman of Enigma; a sister-in-law, Stella Cook of Stillwell; and two grandsons, John Bowen and Michael Bowen, both of Tifton.
