Jack Darris Benefield, 88, of Enigma passed away Wednesday, September 24, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 27, 2003, at Enigma Baptist Church with the Rev. Pete Jones and the Rev. Jim Fennell officiating. Mr. Benefield was entombed at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Leroy Little, Gary Dorminey, Larry Cumley, Maurice McMillan, Anthony Barnes and Dwayne Turner served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Cranford, James King, Jimmy Akins, Bud Tucker, Ray Stewart, Tommy King and Bruce Stewart.
Born September 9, 1915, in Berrien County, Mr. Benefield was the son of the late Jim Benefield and Mecy Alexander Benefield. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Annette Lott Benefield; and one sister. He was a retired farmer; and he was a member of Enigma Baptist Church. He was also a Mason and a Shriner; and he was a veteran of the United States Air Force and served in World War II.
Mr. Benefield is survived by three sons, Charles Benefield, Dwight Benefield and Dewayne Benefield, all of Enigma; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
