Aubrey Lee Barnes, 85, of Enigma passed away Friday, October 24, 2003, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 26, 2003, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals with the Rev. Larry Cone officiating. Mr. Barnes was laid to rest at Turner Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Enigma.
Ricky Barnes, Raymond Barnes, Wayne Barnes, Mike Barnes, Anthony Barnes, Clyde Zinck and Rayford Barnes served as pallbearers.
Born June 5, 1918, in Irwin County, Mr. Barnes was the son of the late Dosey F. Barnes and Sara Elizabeth Myers Barnes. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and two brothers. Before retiring. he was dredge boat operator; and he was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mr. Barnes is survived by six daughters, Virginia Lee Barnes and Jeanette Barnes Cone, both of Enigma, Yvonne Connie Zinck and Deborah Irene Daughtry, both of Saint Petersburg, Florida, Jeanette Marie Reckley of Irwin County and Terry Diane Boone of Panama City, Florida; nine grandchildren, Larry Lee Cone, Leesa Ann Cone, Daina Jill Zinck, Jessica Ann Zinck, Rachel Marie Zinck, Brian Ray McGhee, James Witherington, Deidre Delane Freeman and Savannah Chyenne Boone; eight great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Boggus, Kristen Lee Cone, Micheal Lee Barnes, Leslee Marie Stalvey, Jared Hawk Johnson, Theta Fox Johnson, Logan Brooke Freeman and Alexis Lee Freeman; and many nieces and nephews.
