Ralph Shelton Walker, 73, of Tifton passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 7, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Edwin Dillard officiating. Mr. Walker was laid to rest at Vickers Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
Mr. Walker's grandsons, Eddie Graham, Shelton Graham, Brian King, Calem Newbern, John Horton, Christopher Giddens and Gary Burgess served as pallbearers.
Born December 10, 1930, in Berrien County, Mr. Walker was the son of the late Frank Walker and Lessie Singletary Walker. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Salter Walker; one son, Buddy Walker; one daughter, Peggy Denny; two brothers, Frank Walker and T. J. Walker; and one sister, Edith Walker Danforth. Before retiring, he was a vending machine route salesman; and he was a member or Believers Baptist Church in Tifton. He was also a veteran of the United State Army, having served in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Walker is survived by one son, Timmy Walker of Tifton; three daughters, Debbie Griffin and Linda Newbern, both of Tifton and Brenda Lilly of Berrien County; one brother, Bennie Walker of Florida; one sister, Vivian Kennedy of Washington State; 11 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren.
