Betty Clements Hill Winegard, 76, of Tifton passed away Friday, April 30, 2004, at Beverly Health Care in Tifton. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, May 2, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with Elder Maurice Riner and Elder Lee Chambers officiating. Mrs. Winegard was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Dicky Hilton, Charlie Hilton, David Clements, Jeff Dillard, Jimmy Benson, Ricky Benson, Freddie Cheek and Ricky Hill served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were lawyers and elected officials of Tift County and Edd Walker.
Born March 2, 1928, in Tift County, Mrs. Winegard was the daughter of the late Leon Clements and Willie Ruth Wilson Clements. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Claude Hill, who passed away in 1999. Before retiring, she served as Probate Court Judge in Tifton; and she was a member of Mount Olive Primitive Baptist Church in Tifton.
Mrs. Winegard is survived by her husband, Carl Winegard of Tifton; three sons, Randy Hill, Clem Hill and Edwin Hill, all of Tifton, one brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Margaret Clements of Tifton, four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Jean and Billy Hilton, Sue and Harold Benson, Joyce George and Faye Duckworth, all of Tifton; four grandchildren, Britany Hill, Will Hill, Meredith Hill and Kent Hill; several nieces and nephews; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
