Leslie Herbert Wilson, 74, of Tifton passed away Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Phoebe-Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. His funeral service was held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, July 8, 2004, at Our Divine Savior Catholica Church in Tifton with Father Alphonso Guitterez officiating. Mr. Wilson was laid to rest at a later date.
Born April 14, 1930, in Poonah, India, Mr. Wilson was the son of the late Herbert Lionel Wilson and Mona Coody Wilson. Before retiring, he worked as an engineer in the mechanical handling business; and he was of the Catholic faith. He was an avid fisherman and hunter; and always enjoyed gardening and spending time with his children and grandchildren. He lived in England until 1980; lived in Stone Mountain and Seagrove Beach, Florida before moving to Tifton.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife of 47 years, Dorothea Brown Wilson of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Jane Wilson of Copthorne, England, Peter and Sarah Wilson of Harbury, England and Andrew and Rachel Wilson of Peachtree City; one daughter and son-in-law, Lesley and Clay Roach of Tifton; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Dr. Henry and Mary Wilson of Stone Mountain and Aubrey and Maggie Wilson of Llantwit Major, Wales; one sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Dr. Ayres D'Souza of Wenham, Massachusetts; and eight grandchildren, Paul, Simon, Robert, Lizzie, Christian, Jacob, Grace and Lucy.
