Obituary

Ronald F. Borelli, age 70, of Bedford, New Hampshire, passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center on Monday, July 10, 2006.

He was born May 26, 1936, in New Haven, CT, to the late Alphonse and Marie (Ferraro) Borelli. He graduated from Notre Dame High School of West Haven, CT, in 1955. Ron served in the U.S. Army for two years. Following his military service, he graduated from Fairfield University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. He received a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University in 1969.


In 1962, Ron joined Honeywell North American Operations and was named Director of Operations Page Printing Systems (PPS) in 1976. During his leadership of PPS, Ron authored 20 patents and grew the division into an international operation. Ron joined SCI of Huntsville, AL, in 1982 as Senior Vice President. He served in that capacity until he accepted a position in 1989 as President and Chief Executive Officer of Spectra, Inc. of Hanover, NH. Ron joined the Board of Directors of Aavid Thermal Technologies of Laconia, NH, in 1993, and took over as Chairman and CEO in October of 1996. In 1998, Ron was named as New Hampshire Magazine’s Business Man of the Year. Ron retired from Aavid in 2000. Most recently, Ron served as Chairman of the Board of Vette Corporation of Manchester, NH, and InterSense of Burlington, MA, and Chairman of the Board and CEO for Bentley Kinetics of Bedford, NH.

Ron was active in several community affairs including serving on the Board of Trustees of New Hampshire Community College as well as being Chairperson of the New Hampshire Community College Foundation. Ron also served as a Director on the Northeastern University National Council and the Fairfield University Advisory Council. He was a member of the Mary Hitchcock Memorial Hospital Assembly of Overseers and served on the Board of Directors of Business and Industrial Association of NH. In 1997, Ron served on New Hampshire Governor’s Educational Task Force and was selected by Governor Shaheen to be New Hampshire’s Delegate Member to the President’s Summit for America’s Future. Ron was a communicant of Saint Elizabeth Seton Church of Bedford, NH. He had a passion for golf and was an active member of the Manchester Country Club, Bedford, NH, and Grand Harbor Golf Club in Vero Beach, FL.


Ron is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Rose Marie (Garcia) Borelli of Bedford, his daughters, Donna Ebert and her husband Dennis, of Bedford, NH, and Michelle Arbour and her husband Jeremy, also of Bedford, NH. He is also survived by his four grandchildren, Will and Lauren Ebert and Sarah and Matthew Arbour all of Bedford, NH, his brother, Robert Borelli, of Cromwell, CT, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated in St. Elizabeth Seton Church, 190 Meetinghouse Rd., Bedford, on Saturday July 15, 2006. Burial followed in Bedford Center Cemetery.
