Obituary

The world mourns the loss of the most beautiful soul, Victor Butrimowicz, who left this earth while surrounded by family on March 12, 2024. Born on September 20, 1938 in Zachepylivka, Ukraine, Victor was a true pioneer who overcame every adversity thrown his way during his childhood and adult years. Ahead of mastering the art of hairdressing, he started as an apprentice in Germany that eventually brought him to the United States in 1958 at the very young age of twenty with less than one hundred dollars in his pocket. Upon arrival, Victor continued on his path of success and was able to establish himself as a well-known hairstylist in Boston, opening multiple hair salons throughout some of the city’s most well-known areas. Lover of all things beautiful and visionary, Victor’s life was characterized by persistence and enriched by genuineness, humility, and compassion. Those who experienced life with Victor will remember him as being modest at heart, and abundantly generous in every regard. Victor enjoyed spending his free time at his apple orchard in Limerick, Maine where he planted acres of apple trees and beautiful flowers with the help of some local friends. Victor was preceded by the death of his parents Nikolai and Adela Butrimowicz, sister Zofia Schapoval, former spouse Helen Butrimowicz, and son in law Peter Dunne. He is survived by wife Claire McCarthy Butrimowicz, sister Olga Butrimowicz, brother Leonid Butrimowicz and sister-in-law Maureen Butrimowicz. Victor left this earth surrounded by his loving children whom he had a truly profound impact on throughout the duration of his life; daughter Natasha Dunne, son Andre Butrimowicz, son Nikolai Butrimowicz and daughter in law Olga Butrimowicz, daughter Larissa Butrimowicz and fiancé Justin Friel, as well as his nieces and nephews. The impact Victor had on his children’s lives will be so closely held by his loving grandchildren, Tatiana Dunne, Matthew Dunne, and Oksana Butrimowicz. A memorial service will be held at The Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Epiphany, 963 South St. Roslindale on Monday, March 18 at 6 pm. Please arrive on time as this service will start promptly at 6 pm. Funeral Services will also be held at The Russian Orthodox Church of the Holy Epiphany on Tuesday, March 19 at 12:00 pm. Interment will then follow at Saint Joseph Cemetery, West Roxbury.
