Mother in law of Cheryl Burke of Brockton.
Funeral from the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Saturday at 10am. Funeral Mass at St. Ann’s Church, W. Bridgewater at 11am . Burial in Calvary Cemetery. Visiting Hours Friday 4-7pm.
Obituary
Evelyn A. Burke died Tuesday at Life Care Center of West Bridgewater after a period of failing health. Born and raised in Brockton, daughter of the late Daniel and Mary (Kelleher) Hyde, she had been a lifelong resident of Brockton. She was a graduate of St. Patrick High School and Brockton Business College. Before her retirement she was Senior Clerk at the Brockton Veteran’s Service and Social Security Office.
She was a past member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Hall, loved bingo and worldwide travel with her friend Connie Moynihan. She was a member of the Council on Aging and enjoyed line dancing. Evelyn had been a longtime communicant of St. Patrick and St. Margaret Church in Brockton, and most recently attended St. Ann’s Church in West Bridgewater.
She is survived by one daughter Marilyn A. Gustafson of Bridgewater a granddaughter Heidi Gustafson of Bridgewater, several nieces, nephews and her daughter in law Cheryl Burke.
She was the wife of the late James F. Burke, mother of the late Daniel and Robert Burke and sister of the late Joseph and Francis Hyde and Eleanor Caldwell of Oregon.
