Charles B. Schlumbrecht, 86, of Oakfield passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2004, at his residence. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Schlumbrecht at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 28, 2004, at Oak Ridge Cemetery, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. Dr. Bill Christman officiated.
Born September 14, 1918, in Andalusia, Alabama, Mr. Schlumbrecht was the son of the late Charles Joseph Schlumbrecht and Frances Kathryn Duffee Schlumbrecht. He was also preceded in death by one son, Charles Robert Schlumbrecht. Before retiring, he was a superintendent at Lykes Brothers Meat Packing Company; and he was a member of Tifton's First Presbyterian Church. He was a longtime resident of Tift County.
Mr. Schlumbrecht is survived by his wife, Laura Hill Schlumbrecht of Oakfield; one son, Michael Schlumbrecht of Blackshear; one daughter, Sarah Brown of Plant City, Florida; one sister, Frances Memeli of Niagara Falls, New York; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
