Albert S. Larose, 106, of Log Road in Smithfield died Wednesday at Hebert’s Nursing Home. He would have celebrated his 107th birthday in late August. He was the husband of the late Estelle (Duxbury) Larose.
He was the son of the late David and Emilin (Bourgault) Larose. He lived in Smithfield for over seventy years, previously living in Connecticut.
He was a Finisher for the former Esmond Mills until retirement and was the Director of Public Welfare for the Town of Smithfield for 25 years. In addition, he had been a part time truant officer for the town. He was a member of the RI Cribbage Assn.and was a two time recipient of the 29 Award.
He was a St. Michael’s Church Trustee and a sexton for many years. On his 100th birthday, he was honored by the Town of Smithfield. He is survived by Mary Elizabeth Swanson of Coventry, Doris E. Chambers of Smithfield, Eileen D. Galligan of North Providence, Thomas Duxbury of Narragansett and many grand nieces and nephews. He was the uncle of the late Earl Martin.
Mass of Chrisitian Burial Friday at 10:00am in St. Michael’s Church, 80 Farnum Pike, Smithfield. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers,donations in his memory may be made to Hospice of Nursing Placement, 334 East Avenue, Pawtucket, RI 02860 or the Hebert’s Nursing Home Patient Activity Fund, 180 Log Road, Smithfield, RI 02917.
