Marilyn Gunter Stembridge, 50, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, September 22, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 24, 2004, at Tifton's First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Billy Key, the Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. Jerry Lillard officiating. Mrs. Stembridge was laid to rest at Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Berrien County.
Member of the Asbury Sunday School Class at Tifton's First United Methodist Church served as honorary escorts.
Born March 8, 1954, in Brooks County, Mrs. Stembridge wad the daughter of Olee Elliott and Laverne Gunter Elliott of MacClenny, Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Stembridge; and one brother, Jackie Elliott. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Tifton's First United Methodist Church.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Stembridge is survived by one step-son and his wife, Larry and Karla Stembridge of Nashville, Tennessee; two sisters, Lucretia McClain of MacClenny, Florida and Leslie Wills of Dalvell, South Carolina; two grandchildren and their spouses, Denise Richardson and Nick and Lisa Stembridge; two great-grandchildren, Brandon Richardson and Alisa Stembridge; and her guardian, Kathy Miller.
