Pearly Jane Kirkland Sumner, 64, of Tifton passed away Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 4, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for funerals with the Rev. Bill Barksdale officiating. Mrs. Sumner was laid to rest at Lawrence Cemetery.
Anthony Abbott, Mike Sumner Jr., Darrell Blount, Jason Clanton, Joe Kelley and Andrew "Chopper" Summerlin served as pallbearers.
Born January 21, 1940, in Berrien County, Mrs. Sumner was the daughter of the late G. M. Kirkland and Ella Mae Wells Kirland. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Corinth Freewill Baptist Church in Brookfield.
Mrs. Sumner is survived by her husband of 48 1/2 years, the Rev. William Sumner of Tifton; three sons and daughters-in-law, Jimmy and Wanda Sumner of the Lake Larry Community, Tommy and Sarah Sumner of Enigma and Mike and Rhonda Sumner of Tifton; one daughter, Mae Sumner of Nashville; three brothers, Bobby Kirkland of Tifton, Jack Kirkland of Ocilla and Russell Kirkland of Griffin; three sisters, Doris Branon of Griffin, Jessie Mae Moore of Tampa, Florida and Dorothy Rudd of Texas; twelve grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
