WORCESTER_____Alphonse Russek, 92, formerly of Shrewsbury and Worcester, died Tuesday July 11 in St. Vincent Hospital at Worcester Medical Center. His wife of 64 years, Nellie (Mita) Russek died July 8, 2005.
He leaves two daughters, Arlene M. Bigos and her husband Joseph of Worcester and Judith A. Renihan and her husband Thomas of Dennisport; nine granddaughters, thirteen great-grandchildren, two great great-grandsons and nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by another daughter and son-in-law, Barbara H. and Gerald King, they had resided in Auburn. He was also predeceased by his siblings, Benjamin, Edward and Helen Russek and Julia Latack. He was born in Rutland, son of Szczepan and Antonina (Michalak) Russek and came to Worcester in 1919 and then to Shrewsbury in 1986.
Mr. Russek was a machinist 39 years for Heald Machine Co. and retired in 1979. He was a graduate of Commerce High School in Worcester and was a member of the Polish Falcons of America, Nest 250 and the White Eagle Association of Worcester.
The funeral will be held on Saturday July 15 with a service at 11:00 a.m. in HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Burial will be at the convenience of the family in Notre Dame Cemetery.
