Obituary

Rosemary “Rosie” Curley, 77, of Marshfield, died peacefully March 8th with family by her side after battling a lifetime of medical complications.

Born in Dorchester, August 6, 1946, Rosie was the daughter of the late Leo E. and Mary B. (Hickey) Curley. She was a graduate of both Hyde Park High School and the Boston School of Business.

Shortly after beginning her career as a medical clerk at the VA Hospital in Boston, Rosie received a VA Meritorious Service Medal for saving a man's life. She was commended for her rapid action, alertness and cool behavior. She furthered her professional career as a property manager in southeastern MA and the Boston area for well over 20 years.

Rosie loved to travel, especially with her daughter Kristen; she also loved to read, spend time on the beach and go to casinos. She was the life of the party and always came with a cake in hand for any celebration.

Above all, she cherished every moment with her granddaughter Makena. She enjoyed that time playing with dolls, coloring, going to the farm to feed the goats, and of course shopping.

Rosie is survived by her daughter Kristen Foley, her son- in- law Jim Foley, and her granddaughter Makena Rose of Blackstone, MA.

She is also survived by her brother James Curley and sister-in-law Laura Lee Leasy of Washington, and by many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Leo Curley, Bernard Curley, Robert Curley, Theresa “Tess” and Joe Roche.

Rosie was predeceased by her beloved Aunt Margaret “Peg” and her husband George Carroll, Aunt Rita Alves, and her nephew Derek Barrett.
A special thank you to Dr. Mark Pasternack and Dr. Michael Fifer at MGH for giving Rosie the “16 Lives” she had.
