Mary “Meffy” (Marro) LaFazia, 91, formerly of Simmonsville Avenue, died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 11, 2006 at Fatima Hospital. She was the wife of the late John LaFazia and daughter of the late Pasquale and Loretta (Carnevale) Marro.
Mrs. LaFazia was employed as a matron in the Johnston School Department prior to her retirement in 1985.
She is survived by her son, Vincent J. LaFazia, former Recreation Director for the Town of Johnston and his wife, Linda. She was the loving grandmother of Matthew, Melissa and John LaFazia of Johnston; her sisters, Almarina “Minnie” Mancini, Comella Volpi, Josephine Carrier and many loving nieces and nephews. She was the mother of the late Ann LaFazia-Belisle and sister of the late Ethel Clark, Phyllis Russo, Rose Uscio and Fred, Peter, Vincent and Albert Marro.
Her funeral will be held Friday at 8 am from the *ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9 am in St. Rocco Church, Atwood Avenue, Johnston. Burial in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Visitation Thursday 4-7pm. Kindly omit flowers.
