Proud and loved Papa of Lindsey, Matthew, Cameryn, Addy, and Nate. Brother of William Rooney. Son of the late William and Dorothy Rooney.
Larry had an infectious smile and positive encouraging attitude to everyone he met. He was the Chief Racing Inspector for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for over 30 years. For many years a basketball referee and softball umpire. Also an avid golfer, and an enthusiastic supporter of New England sports and horse racing. Larry was also a very proud Commander and member of the American Legion, Post 18. He loved spending time with his family and friends and sitting on the beach with his face in the sun with his wife.
A visitation will be held at the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham on Sunday, March 17 from 10:00am-1:00pm with a funeral service beginning at 1:00pm. Relatives and friends kindly invited. Interment services are private.
