Benvinda "Benny" (Anacleto) Fernandes, 83, of New Bedford died Wednesday July 12, 2006 at Hathaway Manor Extended Care Facility. She was the wife of the late Wilfred E. Fernandes.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late John and Dominga (Gilmette) Anacleto, she lived in Dartmouth and New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mrs. Fernandes was formerly employed as an assembler at U.S. Ringbinder until her retirement.
She enjoyed playing bingo and spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include two daughters, Carolyn Ramos and her fiancé Manuel Monteiro of New Bedford and Wilma Barrows of Madison, Wisconsin; a brother, Edward Anacleto of Fall River; three grandchildren, Kelly Pereira of New Bedford, Raymond Texeira and his wife Naakaki of Minnesota, and Tyanna Barrows of Wisconsin; two great-granddaughters, Nicole Pereira and Faith Texeira; and nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Beverly Oliveira, and sister of the late Manuel, Joaquim, and Antone Anacleto, and Dorothy Mitte.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours Friday 4-8 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
