James M. “Jim” Hussey, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Monday, July 10, 2006 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas, Georgia.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, July 13, at Evergreen Cemetery, with Rev. Kelly Brown officiating. The family will receive friends from 7-9 Wednesday evening at the funeral home.
Mr. Hussey was born January 9, 1935, in Ben Hill County, Georgia, to the late Vernon Howard and Ruby Fussell Hussey. He was a graduate of Vidalia High School and attended ABAC in Forestry. Mr. Hussey was a farmer and land manager. He served in the United States Navy. Mr. Hussey was a licensed aircraft pilot and a member of the Aircraft Owner & Pilots Association. He was a master furniture maker and woodworker. He was a former member of the Fitzgerald Elk’s Club and attended Pine Level United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife: Merry J. Hussey of Fitzgerald; son & daughter-in-law: Matt & Joanna Hussey of Corinth, TX; daughter: Merry-Leigh Welch of Douglas; grandchildren: Thomas & Kristen Hussey; sister & brother-in-law: Joyce Hussey Smith & Billy of Fernandina Beach, FL
