Obituary

SPRINGFIELD – Claire M. (Brainard St. Pierre) Tremblay, 86, of the East Forest Park section of Springfield, was Called Safely Home on Sunday, March 3, 2024. She passed into Eternal Life at The Reserve at East Longmeadow surrounded by the care and comfort of her loving family. She was born in Springfield on April 20, 1937, a beloved daughter of the late George and Virginia (Tanguay) St. Pierre. She was raised in Springfield, graduated from Cathedral High School and was a lifelong resident of the city. She was a School Bus Monitor and Lunch Mother for over 40 years for the City of Springfield School Department. She previously was a Administrative Assistant at the Youth Center in Springfield. She was a longtime communicant at the former Saint Joseph Church and at Holy Cross Church, both in Springfield. Claire cherished spending time with her family; especially her grandchildren, inspiring love, kindness and wisdom. She built long lasting friendships with an open heart and embraced the joy of life with others each day. She loved and was loved beyond measure. She was predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend, Roger R. Tremblay who was Called Home on December 6, 2004. They were married on February 7, 1959 at Saint Mary Church in Longmeadow and they were blessed with over 45 years of happiness together. She leaves her three loving and devoted children, David R. Tremblay and his wife, Susan, of St. Petersburg, FL, Steven J. Tremblay and his wife, Michelle Jacques, of Wilbraham, and Michelle A. Tremblay Lacroix of Springfield; her eight cherished grandchildren, David Trainor Tremblay and his fiancée, Madelaine Koon, Nathan Tremblay, Jacques Cranston, Lucas Cranston, Genevieve Tremblay, Quinn Lacroix and his fiancée, Jamie Kelly, Grayson Lacroix and his wife, Kirsten Lacroix, and Liam Lacroix; her six dear siblings, George St. Pierre III and his wife, Barbara and Paul St. Pierre and Barbara Main, all of Palm Bay, FL, Mark St. Pierre and his wife, Tilda, of Kyle, SD, Richard "Rick" St. Pierre of Steamboat Springs, CO, Cheryl St. Pierre-Sleboda and her husband, Bob, of Lakeville, CT, and Donald "Donnie" St. Pierre and his wife, Maria, of Sydney, Australia; her dear brother in law, Christopher Libbey of New Richmond, WI; and her many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her twin sister, Anita Brainard; her brothers, Thomas and James Brainard; and her sister, Lorraine Libbey. The family would like to thank the entire staff at The Reserve at East Longmeadow and Brookhaven Hospice for their unwavering care and love at her "home" over the last six years. Her Funeral will be held on Saturday, March 9, 2024 beginning at the St. Pierre – Phaneuf Springfield Chapels, (413-737-1177), 7 Chapin Terrace, Springfield, MA 01107, (funeral home will open at 8 a.m.), followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 395 Chestnut Street, Springfield, MA 01104. Her Burial will follow the Mass at Saint Michael Cemetery, 1601 State Street, Springfield, MA 01109. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, March 9, 2024 from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. prior to her Mass.
