Obituary

Salem
Jean (John) B. Beauregard, 97, of Salem, died February 29, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on March 6, 1926 in Salem, Massachusetts to the late Ubaldo and Ida (Theriault) Beauregard. He was the husband of Dorothy (Dowdell) Beauregard.
John attended high school in Canada and, upon graduation, entered St. John’s Seminary in Brighton, Massachusetts. After realizing that he didn’t have a true calling to the priesthood, John went on to study at Bentley School of Accounting and Finance. He worked as a bookkeeper before beginning a 40 year career at St. Joseph Credit Union, where he was the Manager and Treasurer, before retiring in 1996.
John met his wife, Dot, on a blind date and they married in February 1954. After a honeymoon in Florida they made their home in the Castle Hill neighborhood of Salem before moving to their home on the waterfront in 1963. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
John had a lifelong love of music, especially classical and opera. He and Dot also enjoyed seeing musical theater and were season ticket holders at the North Shore Music Theater for many years. He was a faithful Red Sox fan and spent many afternoons with Dot watching the games. When there was no game being played, he and Dot enjoyed sitting on their porch and visiting with the many wonderful neighbors who happened by.
Most of all, John loved his family and was very proud of all of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. It was always a special joy when the family would gather to celebrate the holidays or just to spend time together.
In addition to his wife, Dorothy, John is survived by their children David Beauregard and his wife, Lisa, of Reading, Dan Beauregard of Haverhill, Anita Cote and her husband, Tony, of Salem, Patti Teopaco and her husband, John, of Watertown, and Richard Beauregard and his wife, Janey, of Salem; eight grandchildren Nicole Beauregard (fiancé, NickCalderan), DJ Beauregard, Whitney Asbury (Ryan), Adam Cote (Danielle), Jocelyn Cote (Pete Mickiewicz), Josh Teopaco, Billy Beauregard and Tommy Beauregard; and six great-grandchildren Carter and Logan Asbury, Miles and Logan Cote and Amelia and Lorelei Mickiewicz. He was predeceased by a son, William C. Beauregard, a sister, Sr. Anita R. Beauregard, SSC and his brothers Emile and Rene Beauregard.
Family and friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, March 5, 2024 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at the Levesque Funeral Home, 163 Lafayette St., Salem.
