WORCESTER-Gertrude I. Clarke, 78, of Worcester, died Wednesday, July 5th in St. Vincent Hospital after an illness. She is survived by 2 daughters, Cynthia Miller of Worcester and Jean S. Tatis of Spencer; 2 brothers; Ruben Kerr of Lakewood, NJ and Rudolph Clark of Yorkshire, England; a sister, Edna M. Watson of Worcester; 3 grandchildren, Tony, Dionne and Elu; 2 great grandsons; several nephews and nieces including Roger and O’Neil.
She was born in Jamaica, the daughter of Charles and Adina (Brissette) Clarke. Ms. Clarke worked at Worcester State Hospital for 20 years before retiring. She was a member of John Street Baptist Church. Ms. Clarke was a beautiful and great soul who loved to give to others and was a great cook. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by relatives and friends.
The funeral is Saturday, July 15th, with a service at 10:00 AM in John Street Baptist Church, 43 John Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday, July 14th from 4:00 until 7:00 PM in O’CONNOR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, 592 Park Avenue.
