Albert Lovejoy Lucas, Sr., 80, of Albany passed away Wednesday, December 15, 2004, at his residence. His funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 18, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. John S. Gibbs, Sr. officiating. Mr. Lucas was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Lucas' grandsons served as pallbearers.
Born January 9, 1924, in Brookfield (Tift County), Mr. Lucas was the son of the late Luther Wesley Lucas and Mary Jane Owens Lucas. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Wilcox Lucas; and his second wife, Christine K. Payne Lucas. Before retiring, he was a heavy-duty operator at the Tifton Machine Shop; and he was of the Pentecostal faith. He was a United States veteran; and he served in World War II.
Mr. Lucas is survived by one son, Albert Lee Lucas, Jr. of Augusta' four daughters and three sons-in-law, Linda and Charles Ford, Joy Ellis and Shelby and Jim Henemyre, all of Albany and Vickie and Dewayne Hayes of Ty Ty; two brothers, Paul Lucas and D. W. Lucas, both of Leesburg, Florida; two sisters, Shirly Jordan and Patricia Lucas, both of Leesburg, Florida; twenty grandchildren; forty great-grandchildren; and one great-great grandchild.
