David N. Stone Jr., 52, of Main Street, Hancock, NH died Tuesday August 20, 2002 at the Monadnock Community Hospital, Peterborough, NH following a lengthy illness. He was born in St. Johnsbury, VT on August 4, 1950, a son of Gaynelle (Clark) Stone and the late David N. Stone Sr. He was a resident of Hancock for two years, formerly living in Derry for 25 years. He grew up in W. Lebanon and was a graduate of Salem High School in Salem, NH. He was also a graduate of UNH in Durham, Class of 1972, where he served as the class secretary. He was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity at UNH. He was employed as a power controller for the Springfield Terminal Railroad in Billerica, MA. He was a member of St. Mark’s Lodge #44 F & AM in Derry. He enjoyed golf and spending time with his family. He was also active in scouting, going on many outings.
He is survived by his wife, Debora P. (Pierce) Stone, of Hancock, one son Midshipman Second Class Jason Stone, of Hancock, his mother of W. Lebanon, several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by his sister, Rebecca Stone in 1986.
Friends may call at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry on Friday, August 23rd from 7 – 9 with cremation following. A Masonic Ritual performed by St. Marks Lodge will be held at 7:45 during calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 24th at 11:00 at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Crystal Ave., Derry. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boy Scout Troop #402, 18 Gervaise Dr., Derry, NH 03038.
