WILLIAM M. BRADY OBITUARY

William M. Brady, 70, of Commodore, PA died on Monday, February 26, 2024 at Indiana Regional Medical Center.

The son of William “Lee” and Anna Mae (Kelly) Brady, he was born on February 11, 1954 in Indiana, PA.

Bill was a graduate of Purchase Line High School and the Indiana University of PA, where he earned a B.S. in Education.

For decades he was a member of the East Mahoning Baptist Church in Purchase Line. An active member of the church, he was a currently serving as a trustee. Bill greatly enjoyed delivering the Childrens Message.

Bill completed his student teaching at PL, as well as spending his entire teaching career at the Purchase Line Elementary School, where he taught 4th, 5th and 6th grades. Always a teacher at heart, he traveled to China twice to teach English classes and share his knowledge of American culture and holidays with Chinese students.

Having played football in high school, he went on to be a PL football coach. For many years, Bill enjoyed being a high school football referee and traveling to various high schools across Western Pennsylvania to referee.

While teaching and even following his retirement, Bill worked every summer with his fellow PL teacher and friend, Lou Idzojtic and his brother, Tom on construction jobs. In addition to jobs for clients, Bill was involved with the building construction of his own home, his cabin, his brother’s home and the homes of friends.

On March 12, 2016, he married Darlene M. (Ankeny) Boston and they would have celebrated their eighth wedding anniversary in just a couple weeks.

Almost every day, regardless of the weather, Bill and Darlene could be found hiking together on a trail near their home. A lifelong traveling enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling across the United States.

Bill was known for his love of singing. Sometimes Bill’s fondness of singing and travelling combined and he could be found entering Karaoke shows and competitions, such as when he and Darlene sang Karaoke together on trips to Niagara Falls.

He would go kayaking whenever he could. He shared wonderful memories of kayaking in the beautiful Adirondacks with his wife, Darlene.

Bill thoroughly loved spending time with his daughter, Missy and his two granddaughters, Abigail and Leigha. Bill especially treasured time with his granddaughters at his cabin in Forest County. He cherished their time together and loved having the opportunity to share his enjoyment of the outdoors with them.

Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene of Commodore, PA; his daughter, Missy Sue Brady of Erie, PA; his two granddaughters: Abigail and Leigha Brady; his two stepdaughters: Misty Hollis and husband Jason and Kristy Anthony and husband Greg and his step grandson, Hayden Anthony, all of Glen Campbell, PA.

Also surviving are his six siblings: Denise Leydic and husband Bill of AZ; Mary Cheryl Fleming and husband Kevin of Shelocta, PA; Mark Brady and wife Jan of Commodore, PA; John Thomas Brady and wife Tammany of Clymer, PA; Rebecca Lee and husband Doug of Curwensville, PA and James Brady and wife Angie of Commodore, PA;

Bill was preceded in death by his parents.

Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA.

Additional viewing will be held from 10-11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2, 2024 at the East Mahoning Baptist Church located at 693 Sebring Road, Marion Center, PA 15759 “Purchase Line” on Saturday, March 2, 2024. Immediately following the visitation, an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held at the church with Pastor Scott Sauers officiating and a eulogy by Bill’s brother, Pastor Mark Brady. Interment will take place at East Mahoning Cemetery in Purchase Line, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the East Mahoning Baptist Church c/o Linda Laney at 846 Cabbage Road, Northern Cambria, PA 15714.
