Obituary

Jane Merrill Astion (aka Lady Jane), 77, died February 25 in Riverbend of South Natick. Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, April 18, 1946, Jane was the daughter of the late Phillip N. and Muriel (Recht) Astion. She was the sister of the late Douglas Astion and the great niece of the late Julian (Yussi) and Adele Astion.

Jane had many a great adventure but considered the Cape her home. Jane loved to dance, laugh, cook, and feed the hungry (and the not so hungry). She loved the magic of the theater, the gentle cuddles of her contented cats, and a good crime show. She was a fierce and loyal friend, a lover of souls both lost and found, the BEST cat owner, an artist, a dancer, a bartender, a cook, a store owner, and a mother.

She is survived by her daughter Mica C. Astion, Mica’s husband Rich Parziale, and Jane’s grandchildren Logan and Sebastian of Medway.

She is also survived by her sister-in-law Donna Potter Astion and her nieces Ariella and Alanna.

Finally, she is surrounded both here and the hereafter by an abundance of amazing friends and family who have loved her deeply throughout her amazing life.

A small memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m at the Thayer House, 2B Oak Street in Medway. A raucous celebration of life will be held on the Cape this spring.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to The Provincetown Theater company (https://www.provincetowntheater.org/), Helping Our Women (https://helpingourwomen.org/), or the MSPCA (MSPCA.org)

Arrangements are under the care of the Ginley Crowley Funeral Home, Medway (www.ginleyfuneralhomes.com).
