Obituary

Lawrence F. Dooley, a longtime Dedham resident, passed away on July 10th at his home surrounded by his family. He was 75. Mr. Dooley was born in Burlington and was the son of the late James Edward and Catherine May Dooley. He was a Korean War Veteran having served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1952-1954. During the 1960’s he served as the head manager of the famous Schraffts Restaurant in downtown Boston. For over 25 years, Mr. Dooley was proprietor of the Kings Court Coffee Shoppe in Dedham Square, a social hub for the Norfolk County Courts. An avid walker, he enjoyed strolling the shores of Westport. He will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved him.

He was the beloved and devoted husband of the late Catherine B. Dooley. He was the loving father of Lawrence F. Dooley Jr. and his wife Karin E. of Medfield, Kathleen T. Dooley and her fiancé Roger Cadman of Arlington and Kerry A. Dooley and her fiancé Robert P. Riggins of Medfield. He was the cherished grandfather of Max E. and Zack A. Shelton, Ryan M. and Catherine G. Dooley. He was the loving brother of Mildred Boudreau of Lowell, Catherine Griffin and her husband Donald of Bradenton, FL and the late Joseph, James, Bernard and Donald Dooley, Helen Scelzo and Alice Bonnell. He also leaves several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

His funeral will be held from the George F. Doherty & Sons Wilson-Cannon Funeral Home, 456 High St., Dedham, on Thursday at 8:00 AM. His funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church, Dedham, at 9:00 AM. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-8 PM. Interment will be in Knollwood Memorial Park, Canton. In Lawrence’s Memory, donations may be made to Memorial and Honor Program, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
