Obituary

WESTERLY: Lena Adams passed away at the Westerly Hospital on Friday, February 23, 2024. Lena is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and John N. Conti of Westerly, a son and his wife, Tony and April Adams of Nashua, NH. She also leaves 5 grandchildren, Cynthia, Amanda, Caroline, Kristen and Kelci as well as 7 great-grandchildren. "Anthony" who was named after PaPa Tony, James and Ben who were her regular Sunday visitors and who she called "my boys," Kiara, Phoebe and Amaya whose constant energy "made her head spin," but always put a smile on her face, and last, but certainly not least, her namesake, Lena, who at "almost 4 years old" shows a personality similar to Great Grandma Lena... high spirited and very engaging. Ruby, Lena's 4 legged companion will miss being adored by her.
Lena's family was the love of her life. She endured many hardships throughout her 95 years, one of them being the loss of her loving husband, Tony. Lena loved to cook and our family enjoyed many meatballs, pies, and ,of course, her Italian Egg cookies. Lena has made her home for the past 3 years at The Carriage House, a part of The Elms Retirement community in Westerly. While there, bingo and coloring became her specialities. She loved all her caretakers there, and we, her family will be forever grateful to them for their care of her. Prior to the Carriage House, Lena's 2 in-home caretakers, Melissa and Tori allowed her to live an independent life until that was no longer possible.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 27, at 11:00am at St. Michael Church, 60 Liberty Street, Pawcatuck. Burial will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stillman Avenue, Pawcatuck.
