Obituary

Ruth Copeland Hobbs, 70, of Tifton passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2004, at her residence. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Olin Hamlin and the Rev. Mike Hobbs officiating. Mrs. Hobbs was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Bill Bass, Clarence Smith, Fred Barnes, Jr. Swain, Carroll Applewhite and Ron Jones served as pallbearers.

Born February 8, 1934, in Tift County, Mrs. Hobbs was the daughter of the late E. L. Copeland and Vera Daniels Copeland. She was also preceded in death by one sister, Catherine Scarborough. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Zion Hope Baptist Church of Tifton. She was a loving wife, mother, sister and friend; an inspiration to all who knew her; thinking the positive and always putting others before herself.

Mrs. Hobbs is survived by her husband of 53 years, Wendell Hobbs of Tifton; three daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Jimmy Hill of Dawsonville, Kay and Bobby Martin of Leesburg and Gwen and Corey Highsmith of Monticello; four brothers, Lloyd Copeland, Bruce Copeland, Earl Copeland and Gerald Copeland, all of Tifton; two sisters, Margaret Denby and Ann Ennis, both of Tifton; four grandchildren and their spouses, Chris and Rachael Hill of Lawrenceville, Miranda Faith Hill of Carbondale, Illinois, Bobbie Kaie Martin of Leesburg and Macayla Mae Highsmith of Monticello; two great-grandsons, William Hill and Ben Hill, both of Lawrenceville; one step-grandson, Jarrod Highsmith of Monticello; numerous nieces and nephews; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews; and numerous great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
