Julia Mae Coker Yancey Howell, 77, of Tifton passed away Wednesday, March 3, 2004, at Kennestone Hospital in Marietta. Her funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 6, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Calvin Bobo officiating. Mrs. Howell was laid to rest at Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Mrs. Howell's nephews served as pallbearers.
Born August 22, 1926, in Whitfield County, Mrs. Howell was the daughter of the late Neal Coker and Estelle Adams Coker. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Leonard Yancey, who passed away in 1987 and her second husband, Houston Howell, who passed asway in 1997. She was a homemaker; and she was a member of Eastside Baptist Church in Tifton. She had lived in Tifton most of her life.
Mrs. Howell is survived by one son, James Harold Yancey of Brookfield; two daughters, Gail Yancey of Moultrie and Kay Hawes of Atlanta; one brother, James Howard Coker; seven sisters, Ruby Murphy of Scottsboro, Alabama, Nell Riley of Phoenix City, Alabama, Lois Dean and Martha Love, both of Columbus, and Betty Hayes, Sue Harnage and Hildred Goff, all of Tifton; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
