Alantha Irene Young Griffin, 81, of Winter Haven, Florida passed away Tuesday, August 31, 2004, at her residence. Her funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 4, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Terrell Roberts officiating. Mrs. Griffin was laid to rest and Oakey Grove Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Berrien County.
Tim King, Jim Pritchard, Lee Pritchard, Kenny Allen, Michael Underwood and Joey Underwood served as pallbearers.
Born august 10, 1923, in Berrien County, Mrs. Griffin was the daughter of the late Willie F. Young and Fannie Belle Richardson Young. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Leroy Jackson Griffin, who passed away in 1970; and one son, Jackie Griffin. She was a homemaker; and she was of the Baptist faith.
Mrs. Griffin is survived by two sons, James Griffin and David Griffin, both of Winter Haven, Florida; three daughters, Doris Griffin of Bradenton, Florida, Sharon Pritchard of Tifton and Shirley Griffin of Winter Haven, Florida; one brother, Julius Young of Tifton; one sister, Daisy Luke of Tifton; five grandchildren, including Valerie Griffin Allen of Enigma; and six great-grandchildren.
