Willie "W. C." Gibbs, 69, of Enigma passed away Tuesday, August 3, 2004, at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. His funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 6, 2004, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals with the Rev. Shaun Suggs and the Rev. Walter Powell officiating. Mr. Gibbs was laid to rest at Tift Memorial Gardens.
Mark Owens, Bruce Giddens, Cecil Giddens, Lamar Davis, Donald Bennett and Lyndon Baker served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Enigma Volunteer Fire Department.
Born November 11, 1934, in Tift County, Mr. Gibbs was the son of the late Elbert R. Gibbs and Mary Lou Owens Gibbs. He was also preceded in death by one brother; one sister; and several nieces and nephews. He was a carpenter by trade; and he was a member of Enigma United Methodist Church.
Mr. Gibbs is survived by his wife, Doris Giddens Gibbs of Enigma; one daughter, Sylvia Goodman of Tifton; one step-son, Eugene Roberts of Enigma; two step-daughters, Marie Hulett and Tina Roberts, both of Enigma; one brother, Eugene Gibbs of Brookfield; six sisters, Norma Pidgeon of Tifton, Mary Belle Harrell and Hilda Davis, both of Brookfield, Reba Ontano Cassel of California, Ann Roberts of Albany and Odella Abell of Jacksonville, Florida; and ten grandchildren.
