Obituary

CAPE ELIZABETH- Trae “Tracy/Trasi” Lynn Winchenbaugh, age 60, passed away on February 18, 2024, at the Gosnell House in Scarborough, Maine, after a short and courageous battle with an aggressive cancer.
She was born in Portland Maine on May 29,1963, the first-born daughter to Gary and the late Judith (Learned) Winchenbaugh. After graduating from Scarborough High School and attending the Ringling College of Art and Design in Florida, Trae moved back home to Maine to help take care of her Gram. A “Jill of all Trades,” Trae did it all, but in her heart she was an artist and a talented one at that! Everything she touched and created was with such intention and thought~ she thrived making this world more beautiful for everyone.
Her most treasured time on earth was the ten years she spent as caretaker of Richmond Island. She loved her cabin, she loved her sheep and she loved being entrusted to protect such a special place that she held so close to her heart.
To know Trae was to know a force of nature~ her crazy curls were her trademark, her independent style her strength, and her unique spirit her legacy.
Trae is predeceased by her mother, Judy who died in 2005. She is survived by her father- Gary, her sister- Casey, her brother-in-law- James, her nephew- Nathaniel and her longtime boyfriend- Robert.
Trae requested that no public services be held, but said to “Look for her in the wind and you will find her there.”
In lieu of flowers please send memorial contributions to the Gosnell Memorial Hospice House in Scarborough, Maine for their wonderful support and comfort of Trae in her final weeks.
