Obituary

Raymond Glyn Green, 77, of Tifton passed away Monday, July 12, 2004, at Tift Regional Medical Center. A graveside funeral service was held for Mr. Green at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 15, 2004, at Tift Memorial Gardens, where he was laid to rest. The Rev. Calvin Bobo officiated.

Ray Carter, Wade Green, Glyn Green, Walker Hurley, John Norman III and Jake Norman served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Mr. Green's grandsons, as well as James Featherston and Ray Coats.

Born August 3, 1926, in Mills County, Texas, Mr. Green was the son of the late Walter R. Green and Suzie Ingram Green. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, J. B. Green and Pete Green; and three sisters, Grace Kniffen, Ellen Coats and Dorothy Featherston. Before retiring, he was a well driller; and he had lived in Tifton since 1965. He was an avid fisherman and gardener; and he loved to cook; and served as a cook for the United States Army in World War II.

Mr. Green is survived by his wife, of 45 years, Vernice Elizabeth Krieg Green of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Tracy Wade and Gena Green of Tifton; two daughters and sons-i-law, Belinda and Randy Carter of Tifton and Joanna and Johnny Norman of Moultrie; and eight grandchildren, Roy Carter, Erin Carter, Glyn Green, John Norman III, Samantha Carter, Wade Green, Walker Hurley and Jake Norman.
