Obituary

CHICOPEE – Paul Romanovicz, 74, of the Willimansett section of Chicopee, was Called Safely Home on Wednesday, February 14, 2024. He passed into Eternal Life at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield surrounded by the care and comfort of his loving family. He was born in Holyoke on January 28, 1950, a beloved son of the late Michael A. and Frances J. (Chliszczyk) Romanovicz. He was raised and educated in Chicopee and had lived in Chicopee his entire life. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was employed as a Drywall Finisher for the Boston and Springfield Local Painters Unions. During his leisure time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing, kayaking and hunting. Above all, he loved spending time with his family and friends. He leaves his beloved wife and best friend, Janet L. (Wehr) Romanovicz. They were married on March 22, 1969 at Faith United Methodist Church in Chicopee and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. He also leaves his four loving children, Paul J. Romanovicz and his wife, Kelly, of Plymouth, Gary W. Romanovicz of Holyoke, Carrie A. Deforge and her husband, John, of Chicopee and Thomas A. Romanovicz and his wife, Jennifer, of Conway; his ten cherished grandchildren, Samantha Picard, Nicholas J. Romanovicz, Katelyn M. Romanovicz, Cayleigh N. Romanovicz and her fiancé, Patrick Lashway, Gary J. Romanovicz, Brandon P. Deforge, Brooke L. Deane and her husband, Dakota, Olivia N. Romanovicz, Amanda L. Romanovicz and Thomas J. Romanovicz; his four cherished great grandchildren, Skylar Picard, Lydia Lashway and Ada Lashway and Kierstyn Deane; his three dear brothers in law, Thomas Wehr and his wife, Tina, of Agawam, Gary Wehr of Chicopee, Mark Wehr and his wife, Ruth, of Chicopee; his dear sister in law, Susan Gasper of Chicopee; and his many dear nephews, nieces, cousins, extended family members and friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his three dear brothers, Walter J. Romanovicz and his wife, Emily, Michael Romanowicz and his wife, Kathy, and John Romanovicz and his wife, Candice; his dear sister, Pauline M. Harding; his dear brother in law, Al Gasper; and his dear sister in law, Gail Wehr. His family will receive friends on Thursday, February 22, 2024 from 12 Noon to 2 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 2 p.m. at the St. Pierre-Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, (413-532-9806). 13 Dale Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. The parking lot and main entrance of the funeral home are located in the rear at 20 Lafayette Street, Chicopee, MA 01020. His burial will be private.
