Obituary

George W. Pothier of Rockland, formerly of Brighton, passed peacefully on February 7, 2024. He was the beloved son of Jeanette M. (McNulty) Pothier and the late George C. Pothier. Devoted brother of the late Michael G., David C. and his wife Sutheera of San Diego, CA, Diane M. Kelley and her husband Patrick of Quincy, Mary C. Mancini of Hanover, Daniel P. and his wife Christine of Waltham, Christine J. Pothier and her husband Brant Small, of Kingston and Jan M. of Brighton. Loving uncle to Krystine, Jacquelene, Garrett, and Gina Kelley; Mary, AJ, Vincent, and Ava Mancini; Jack and Sean Pothier; Joseph Jr., Roy, and Bryan (Rivera-Santiago), and Alexander Small. Also survived by many cousins.

George grew up in Brighton and attended St. Columbkille School where he made many life-long friends. He was an outstanding football player at St. Columbkille’s High School and was named a co-captain in his senior year. He had many natural talents, including home building, mechanics, and boating skills; there was no job too small or too large for George to tackle. Following high school, George became a Master Journeyman and a licensed Builder Contractor at Carpenters Local Union No 33.

His favorite place was at the ocean; George spent a lot of time at his family home in Hull and boating around Boston Harbor islands. In recent years, George, and his beloved dog ‘Pebbles’ took to the road to visit family and old friends and explore America. These road trips breathed in new ideas; he was in pursuit of building homes along Florida’s coast for family and friends to enjoy.

George loved and supported his family and friends, near and far, in any way he could; he had a great desire to support anyone in need of a helping hand. He also would give back by fundraising for ‘Buzzcuts for Kids’ campaigns and animal rescue services. His great sense of humor touched so many, in good times and bad, and he would often post online a funny quote or cartoon to share and connect with friends everywhere.

Details regarding services are to follow. In lieu of flowers, Remembrances in memory of George can be made to ‘Survivor Tails Animal Rescue’ at https://www.survivortails.org/donate or 'The Boston House, Hope and Healing for Children with cancer', 229 Kent Street, Brookline, MA 02446
